Transport in Russia is represented by the usual set of vehicles, vessels and flying machines.

You can get into Russia by different ways: either by air, land or sea. I will try to give you a more detailed account of the places to start and means to choose from.

If you have an intention to travel between Russian cities which are far from one another the best choice is planes or trains. Once there were many aerodromes in different towns but now they are derelict and some places can only be reached by rail or even by helicopter (pricey). And almost half of Russia is wild and out of the reach of the lesser mortals. Nevertheless most popular sites are easily accessible.

Local trains, buses and minibuses (marshrootkas) will bring you to the nearest towns.

In any town you will see buses, trolleybuses, trams and marshrootkas. Metro is found in 7 cities: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk.

I will try to make this stumbling block to many travelers a stepping stone to new adventures. Just give me some time 🙂
